What is the difference between a church and a sect or cult?

In my views, when you say Church it could be a house for many different denominations usually related to Christian faith. Baptist, Catholic, Pentecostal, Charismatic, non denominational. etc. Sect usually pertains to different views and practices in Buddhism (one of my contacts told me this). a Cult is more of a smaller system of believers of unpopular doctrine based on a supreme human leader. The Manson Family, Ra�lism, Scientology, Heaven's Gate, Order of the Solar Temple, David Koresh etc. However, sect, church and denomination can also apply to all those as well.
