So, HP Pro Webcam, doesn't connect.?

So, recently got a new webcam because the last one I had, the wires got chewed to bits. I buy the HP Pro Webcam, install it, installed the driver, plugged it in and tried to talk in a skype call, nothing picked up. I opened the Webcam Companion to see if it even picked up, nothing. It isnt my USB ports because the last webcam I had was the Microsoft Lifecam 5000 and it worked fine. Could it be the brand of webcam seeing as I'm using a Microsoft computer and I've tried HP and Logitech webcams, but they don't work.
