Ipod/Itunes Help Please!?

So whenever I used to plug in my Ipod (It's an 8GB 3g Touch btw), everything worked fine, it would connect to Itunes, blah blah blah. But ever since I got a new USB cord for it, both my computer and Itunes do not pick it up. It still charges, but nothing senses it. I've tried everything everyone has told me to do, like resetting my Ipod, re-installing itunes, trying a different USB port, and more. So if anyone has had the same problem, and knows how to fix it, then I would really appreciate your advice! Thanks :)
