How can i fix my ringing speakers?

I have a pair of speakers plugged into my samsung B2430HD hdtv monitor, i have my ps3 hooked up to it using the HDMI port on the monitor, and have my speakers hooked up to the monitor through the headphone jack, and whenever i play games and there's a silent moment i can hear my speakers ringing and its very annoying, is there a way to fix this? would it sound better if i had an audio connection going straight from the ps3 to my speakers?
